Our friend, Cindy Aldridge at Our Dog Friends provided us these tips to help us splurge on a budget.
6 Budget-Friendly Ways to Pamper Your Pet into a Life of Luxury
If our pets are part of our family, shouldn’t we treat them as such? Keeping your pet safe and healthy is an obvious goal that any pet owner should aim to achieve. But if you could further enhance their everyday life without breaking the bank, wouldn’t you be interested? Fortunately, you can! From cost-effective products to regular grooming to car rides, here are six budget-friendly ways to provide your pet with a life of luxury:
1. Get items at Target
Helping your pet live la dolce vita will sometimes require you to buy new products. However, by shopping at big-box retailers like Target, you can get a lot of the things you need without draining your bank account. To go along with already affordable prices, Rakuten offers 17 tips for saving at Target. For example, you can download the Target app on your smartphone, which always has coupons and special promotions. And if you get a Target REDcard, you will get 5% off all purchases, free shipping online, and a 120-day return period.
2. Keep them well-groomed
Do you take baths/showers and get your hair cut on the reg? Do you get your nails done or go for a complete spa package every now and then? Do the same for your pet. Keeping your pet well-groomed is not only important for their health, but it will also help them feel good. At the very least, regularly give your pet a bath, trim their nails, brush through their fur, and wipe off their paws after being outdoors. And you don’t have to rack up professional grooming bills if you learn to do it yourself!
3. Upgrade their bedding
Pets spend a lot of time sleeping or lying down. Maximize their comfort by getting them a nice bed. There are many types of affordable, luxurious beds on the market for dogs and cats alike—from memory foam beds to sofa beds to fur beds. If you want to go the extra mile, consider getting them a few beds—one for the bedroom, one for the living room, and one for outdoors.
4. Invest in a pet ramp
Joint problems are very common among pets, especially for larger and/or older dogs. To help your pet stay comfortable and healthy—and potentially avoid high vet bills—consider getting them a pet ramp. This kind of ramp can be used to help your pet access vehicles, beds, sofas, windows, and any other place where they like to hang out without exacerbating their joint pain.
5. Give them treats
Just as you like to indulge in the occasional sweet or savory snacks, your pet would surely be open to having a treat every now and then. There are tons of affordable, healthy treats on the market, from grain-free puppy bites to jerky sticks to chicken or lamb treats. If you want to improve your pet’s oral health (and breath), opt for dental chews.
6. Take them on trips
A lot of pets love to ride in the car, as it gives them a chance to experience new sights, sounds, and smells. Make an effort to bring them along on your trips to the store, or take them to the park for some fun time outside. If riding in a vehicle is not something they particularly enjoy, consider investing in a crate pad to boost their comfort.
Your pet deserves to live the good life, and you can make that happen without spending a ton of money! Remember to shop at stores like Target, regularly groom your pet, and invest in items like bedding and ramps. Also, treat your pet with the occasional snack, and take them for rides in your car. Taking steps like these will give you peace of mind knowing that you are keeping your pet living healthy, happy, and fancy.
